Oh hello, I didn’t see you there, which is just odd because you are pretty awesome.
This also happens to be quite the coincidence, because at this very moment, Digital District is looking for awesome people such as yourself! Each year, we open our leadership team applications to the public, put you through rigorous tests such as jumping out of an airplane and having to send three tweets with only one hand, and select the best minds throughout the DC area to join us.
Alright, so maybe we don’t put you through crazy tests, but our entire team does have input on who joins us and they can be picky. You see, all of our alum leadership team members are total bad asses, and we believe a lot of that is due to the growth and experiences gained through our organization. Therefore, it’s only logical that we find the best of the best, and it’s very possible that would include you. Here is what you need to know:
Joining the Leadership Team
Our leadership team consists of five teams, managed by five directors and our board members. Every single one of us are volunteers, but the rewards that come from our involvement is vast.
Between making new connections, getting amazing job offers, finding great clients, making new friends (hey, it’s not easy after college), learning new things, and getting to experiment in a safe setting, Digital District has a lot to offer you. You also get a free annual membership for as long as you are an active leadership team member. For those of you who continue on through your first term, there are also leadership opportunities.
This all sound pretty awesome, but what does that mean for you?
Simple. We host a panel each month (except during the summer), and expect you to help us develop, plan, and execute them based on the team you are on. One of the benefits of Digital District is that you don’t have to be on a team that mirrors your professional experience. This is a growth and education opportunity and we embrace mistakes (and wash them down with beer). Each team also meets once a month and occasionally through Google Hangouts (mostly up to your team). So if you are ok with email threads, meeting twice a month, and throwing in some elbow grease, you’ll fit right in!

If we think you’ll do well with our team, we’ll set up a time to chat via Google Hangouts or at one of our events. If you are interested in helping out and can’t make the time commitment, consider joining the street team.
